Unveiling an Unprecedented Secret: The Pyramid of Sahure Unearths a New Archaeological Treasure

 Egyptian authorities have unveiled a remarkable archaeological find within the pyramid of King Sahure in Abu Sir, located in the Saqqara antiquities area in Giza, south of Cairo. A series of storerooms have been discovered, shedding new light on the secrets of ancient Egyptian pyramid architecture. The recent discovery includes approximately eight warehouses, with some damage observed in the northern and southern sections, particularly to the ceiling and floor. However, remnants of the original walls and parts of the floor remain visible.

Archaeologists have meticulously restored and documented the discovered storerooms, providing valuable insights into the interior design of King Sahure's pyramid. This significant finding enhances our understanding of the construction and purpose of the ancient Egyptian pyramids. The corridor was carefully cleaned using advanced technologies, including 3D laser scanning with the ZEB Horizon m GeoSLAM scanner. The Egyptian-German mission, in collaboration with the 3D Geoscan team, conducted a comprehensive survey of the newly discovered areas, resulting in detailed maps of both the expansive exterior and the intricate corridors and chambers within.



The archaeological significance of this discovery, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, lies in its contribution to unraveling the architectural principles with Egypt tours underlying King Sahure's pyramid. Sahure, the second king of the Fifth Dynasty (2400 BC) and the first to be laid to rest in Abu Sir ruled Egypt for 12 years during the 25th century BC.
