The Grand Egyptian Museum Authority's Board of Directors meeting is presided over by the tourism minister

 The Minister welcomed the attendees and highlighted the Prime Minister's recent visit to the museum, where he closely observed the progress of the project, including the development of the museum and its surroundings, as well as the status of the artifacts.

The Minister commended the efforts of the museum's team in completing this remarkable structure. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the predetermined timelines and schedule for the remaining work. The Grand Egyptian Museum, a project conceived in the 1990s, had its foundation stone laid in 2002 in a strategic location that offers a stunning view of the timeless pyramids of Egypt to enjoy with this awesome view.

In the meeting, the Council approved the minutes of the previous session and adopted the revised financial statements and final account of the Museum Authority for the fiscal year 2022-2023. The members of the Central Auditing Organization were present during this process. The Council was also informed about the Minister's decision regarding the ticket prices for visiting the museum.




Major General Atef Moftah, the General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum Project, provided an update on the current status of the museum and its surroundings. He highlighted the progress made in various areas, including the main building, which comprises the museum and its service sections. He also discussed the completion of surrounding buildings such as the entrance and ticket building, the Pyramids Restaurant, a multi-use building, the Hanging Obelisk Square, surrounding gardens, and both existing and new parking areas.

Prior to the Board of Directors meeting, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities held a separate meeting with the leaders of the museum's work team to discuss the progress of ongoing projects.

During the meeting, the team reviewed the latest developments in the museum's work, specifically focusing on the progress made in the main exhibition halls. They discussed the plan for transporting the remaining heavy artifacts and the completed preparations for museum displays. Currently, 58% of the work has been completed, with two presentation periods already finished. The team is on track to complete the remaining two periods as scheduled.



The Grand Egyptian Museum project plays a significant role in attracting tourists and revitalizing tourism in Egypt. It not only focuses on showcasing Egypt's history and rich cultural heritage but also has a broader impact on tourism across the country. In addition to drawing visitors to Cairo, the museum's influence extends to other regions of Egypt.

The project helps expand the tourism scope to include Upper Egypt destinations like Luxor and Aswan, which are renowned for their ancient temples and historical sites. Moreover, it contributes to the promotion of coastal areas such as El- the Alamein Day Trip from Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast and popular beach resorts like the Nile Cruise from Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada on the Red Sea.
